VerifLocal - Version 4.0 VerifLocal is a program that analyzes flight recordings, either IGC file or recordings from the Condor simulator (.ftr). It allows to check if the glider has remained within gliding range ("en local" in French) of Landable Areas during the flight (according to Glide Ratio) and can determine escape routes. The entire reachable area can be determined It is possible to use topographic data from either Condor or LK8000 or to download data from OpenTopography Airspace can be displayed on the map and detected Low-level flight can be detected A batch mode enables to process multiple files without graphical display, see ADVANCED USE in the manual The results provided are only indicative and cannot be used as evidence. The use of this software should in no way exempt the user from using his common sense. NEW FEATURES SINCE V3.0 See V4_New_Features.txt INSTALLATION Use the installer program or unzip the Zip file to the desired folder IF YOU HAVE USED PREVIOUS VERSIONS Copy your old VerifLocal.ini file into the installation folder, then start VerifLocal, the file will be updated automatically Take care not to modify the VerifLocal_default.ini file The installation folder should contain: Airspace Folder for storing airspace files Manual Documentation folder Maps Folder for storing terrain files and maps NConvert Image converter folder AltCol.txt Colour palette for relief maps guide_aires_securite.cup French Alps LAs with difficulty indication CpwDLL.dll graphics library Dem2Trn.exe.lnk shortcut to launch terrain file conversion Glider_data.txt Condor glider data NaviCon.dll coordinate conversion library Nouveautés_V4.txt list of new features in version 4 (French) Polars_data.txt Condor glider data (polar) silhouette.txt glider silhouette displayed on trajectory Splash_EN.bmp splash screen (english) Splash_FR.bmp splash screen (french) V4_New_Features.txt list of new features in version 4 (english) VerifLocal.exe application VerifLocalBatch.exe.lnk shortcut to start batch processing VerifLocal.ini configuration file VerifLocal_default.ini configuration file template (DO NOT MODIFY) VerifLocal_LISEZMOI.txt French version of README.txt VerifLocal_Map_Setup.exe configuration application VerifLocal_Map_Setup_form.frm form definitions (EN) VerifLocal_Map_Setup_form_FR.frm form definitions (FR) VerifLocal_README.txt this file VerifLocal_Setup.exe configuration application VerifLocal_Setup_form.frm form definitions (EN) VerifLocal_Setup_form_FR.frm form definitions (FR) vl_v4.ico icon zlibwapi.dll utility libraries TROUBLESHOOTING If you experience unexpected program crashes, execute the VerifLocal-Debug.bat script and send the VerifLocal-Debug.log file to the support (see below) TOPOGRAPHIC DATA AND MAPS For the time being the distribution is pre-configured for the French Alps. If Condor and the AA2 landscape (Arc Alpin 2) are not installed on your PC, you have to download the package VerifLOcalData.zip (see manual) and unzip it in the same folder which will have to contain in addition the following files : AA2.trn topographic data AA2.bmp map Otherwise, if Condor is installed on your PC, start VerifLocal and click on [Config./Terrain(IGC)] in the menu bar and select the file AA2.trn which is located in C:\Condor2\Landscapes\AA2\ (if Condor is installed in C:\Condor2). The default map will be automatically selected. Then click on [Config./Save config.] if you want to memorize this configuration. For the other zones, obtain the .trn and .bmp files of the Condor landscape corresponding to the flight zone and proceed in the same way. The easiest way is to download the "basic" package of the corresponding Condor landscape from Condor Club: https://www.condor-club.eu/sceneries/197/. For a given landscape, it is always the first in the list of files to download. Unzip the file at the desired location. It is then possible to delete all files except: LANDSCAPE_NAME.trn and LANDSCAPE_NAME.bmp NB : take care to use only landscapes intended for Condor version 2 ("C2" must appear before the name of the landscape in the list) It is also possible to use LK8000 terrain files (.DEM) Flights must be contained entirely within the area corresponding to the topography file. If they straddle two scenes, they cannot be processed. For Condor files, the landscape on which they were recorded must be installed on the computer or at least the .trn and .bmp files must be available and selected USAGE It is possible to read Condor files (.ftr) or IGC files (.igc), whether they come from real or simulated flights. During the same session it is possible to read both types of files. To open a file, select File/Open... from the menu. If you want to use drag and drop mode to start the program, it is recommended that you create a shortcut on your desktop. You can then drag a file (.igc or .ftr) onto the shortcut to scan it. FOR MORE DETAILS SEE THE MANUAL In some (rare) cases of prolonged use, the program may stop due to memory allocation problems. Please send the file VerifLocal.log to the e-mail address below.
